A NEW single-storey police beat base costing more than RM100,000 has opened in Setia Alam.
The beat base named Pengkalan Bit Setia Alam U13, Shah Alam, will have a policeman stationed there during office hours to ensure that the township will develop into a safe and secure one in view of the crime rate nowadays.
Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Yahaya
Udin, who at the police beat launch announced his retirement on Oct 5,
ending his 37 years of service in the force.
Yahaya said since he will become a citizen like any other person, he is
proud that there is a developer that cares for the people’s safety and
needs.
The police beat base, which started construction in March last year,
was completed early this year. It has a built-up area of 214.2 sq m,
equipped with a reception area, a waiting lobby, an office, a
kitchenette, a surau and a lock-up room.
Also present was Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation vice-chairman cum
S.P. Setia Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye and Shah Alam OCPD
Assistant Commissioner Abdul Wahab Embong and Bandar Setia Alam Sdn Bhd
general manager Norhayati Subali.
Norhayati said following the first batch of 1,200 homes in Setia Alam
five months ago, the presence of the a Police Beat will help deter the
occurrence of crime and create a safe environment, enhancing the
overall value of the township.
“Besides the police beat base, Setia Alam has carefully planned layout
that incorporates security features such as a single entry and exit to
every neighbourhood of 300 houses.
“All homes in Setia Alam are also equipped with a built-in security
alarm system connected to the local Central Monitoring System (CMS).
