AFTER hitting Taman Suria Jaya in Cheras, water meter thieves have targeted the Tri-Segi industrial area at the 3rd Mile, off Jalan Sungai Besi.

Business owners were shocked to discover their water meters missing on Friday morning when they came in to work.

Justy Electronics assistant manager Alex Tang was furious to discover there was no water in the office and only realised later that the water meter was missing.

“I checked and discovered that mine was not the only one gone. The entire block was missing water meters,” Tang said, adding that a quick count showed about 100 meters missing.

Vauto Supply Sdn Bhd owner Kee Oi Teik said he made a police report in the morning and paid a visit to the Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) to pay for a new meter.

“Looks like I have to buy an extra lock to ensure the meter doesn’t get stolen again,” he said.

However, those who had plastic meters were spared.

“I guess the plastic ones don’t sell. Lucky for me,” joked businessman Liew.
