PUSAT Bandar Puchong residents have sought the assistance of Kinrara Puchong assemblyman Dr Kow Cheong Wei to solve security problems.
A beat base had been provided in the area by the developer but it has been abandoned since 2004.
Technical issues relating to the site, which is on a plot of park land by the main road leading from the commercial centre, had apparently caused the abandonment.
Residents say the police refused to officially take control of the base
as it was not located on police reserve land and this has led to the
premises being subjected to vandalism.
With an increasing crime rate, residents are worried that the situation will go from bad to worse if action is not taken soon.
They handed Dr Kow a letter urging him to get the Subang Jaya Municipal
Council to carry out repairs on the damaged beat base and to ensure
police officers are stationed at the site.
Pusat Bandar Puchong Residents' Association vice president Alvis Ung,
who handed the letter to Dr Kow, said residents were hopeful the
assemblyman would be able to help them.
He added that the residents felt the site would be an ideal place for the police to operate from.
“We are facing a lot of security problems and hope the authorities will take us seriously,” said Ung.
Dr Kow was sad for the residents, as he fully understood the situation.
