The remaining 500m stretch of the Rawang Town bypass will be ready in the next 18 months. The first phase of the bypass – a 1.7km stretch that enables north-bound motorists using the old trunk road to skip Rawang town – was opened seven months ago. The Rawang town bypass in total is 2.2km.
With the completion of the 500m, motorists from Selayang will enter the
new road at the overhead bridge in Batu 18 and rejoin the old KL-Ipoh
trunk road at Greenpark, after the Rawang town junction.
After a groundbreaking ceremony at the site last Thursday, Rawang
assemblyman Datuk Tang See Hang said the Rawang town bypass would be
completed just before the holiday season starts.
“This will enable north-bound motorists and south-bound motorists to bypass Rawang town, which is usually jammed,'' said Tang.
Mahumas Sdn Bhd, which is entrusted with developing Pusat Bandar Baru
Rawang over the next four years, will complete the 500m road stretch.
