One-stop agency to solve garbage woes |

 Alam Flora has been appointed the one-stop agency for solid waste collection in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor and Pahang.
Residents in the designated cities and states can expect less cause to be frustrated by local council red tape just to have their rubbish woes settled.
Under Alam Flora's Aduan Sampah? Adulah Alam Flora (Rubbish woes? Complain to Alam Flora) campaign, residents can call, e-mail or sms the company for help.
The idea for the one-stop agency was conceived by Selangor Mentri Besar
Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, who wanted to give the public easier
access to get their rubbish problems settled.
He was the guest of honour at the launch of the campaign at the Hotel Grand Blue Wave, Shah Alam on Thursday.
Also present were Selangor state executive councillor in charge of
infrastructure Datuk Abdul Fatah Iskandar and DRB-Hicom group managing
director Mohd Khamil Jamil.
Later, Dr Khir told reporters that Alam Flora would collect rubbish
from all areas, including housing estates, commercial centres and along
the roads.
“There are technicalities to be sorted out. For example, some roads
fall under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department (PWD).
“However, we have asked Alam Flora to help out first by tackling the rubbish woes in all areas.
“They can clear up the rubbish on PWD roads and bill the department later,” said Dr Khir.
He also called on factories not to hire their own rubbish disposal contractors.
“They should contact Alam Flora instead. Some of these private
contractors dump rubbish on empty lands and bushes, creating illegal
dumping sites which we will need to clean up later,” said Dr Khir.
