RESIDENTS living along Jalan 2/1 in Taman Puchong Perdana are fuming over a move by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) to convert a stretch of road in front of their house into parking lots.
They claim that, at present, the road, which caters to two-way traffic, is narrow and any plans to convert part of it into parking lots will only cause congestion.
Spokesman Letchumiprabha Rajasekaran said residents already had to compete with outsiders for parking lots because their houses were facing commercial lots.
Prabha added that the problem now was not so serious because the
outsiders were considerate and would only park their vehicles in front
of their homes for a few minutes to run errands.
“Once parking lots and meters are up, the
residents will be deprived of free parking if all the bays are taken up
by outsiders,” said Prabha.
Another resident, Lim Im Kee added that the contractors started
clearing a stretch of the road last week and had placed cones at the
place to prevent parking.
The residents described the new system as ridiculous and said the
contractors should meet with the residents before implementing any
system which affected residents.
