KUALA LUMPUR: An Indonesian worker was killed while two others
were seriously injured when a section of the top floor of an apartment
block under construction collapsed in Taman Desa Sentosa here
yesterday. The deceased, identified only as 23-year-old Ally
from Aceh, was working with seven others on the fourth floor of the
block when the incident occurred at 8.30pm.
Ally died on the spot while the two injured workers were identified only as Amit, 23, and Samsuri, 21.
The other five workers, also from Indonesia, escaped with minor injuries and were given outpatient treatment.
Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue operations commander Rozain Jaafar said 24
firemen in three fire engines from the Hang Tuah and Old Klang Road
stations rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 9pm.
Rozain said a police tracker dog unit was also used in the search and rescue operations, which ended at 10.30pm.
He said the cause of the collapse was still being investigated.
