GUA MUSANG: The Housing and Local Government Ministry will find
ways to obtain an allocation under the Ninth Malaysian Plan to help
volunteer fire brigades nationwide. Its minister Datuk Seri Ong
Ka Ting said the Government supported the 12,751 volunteers nationwide
whose work was a service to the community.
“This job requires sincerity on the part of the volunteers to take up
the task of fire fighting and other community duties even if they are
not paid.
“That is why they need all the assistance to continue with their work
and I want to assure the volunteers that I will see to it that they are
given the fullest support,” Ong said before opening the Gua Musang
volunteer fire brigade’s office at Kampung Baru Cina here yesterday.
Ong, who also the MCA president, also commended the Gua Musang
volunteer fire brigade for their dedication and promised that they
would be provided with a used mini fire truck to replace the old one
and also receive a RM5,000 grant from his ministry.
